The Witch Has a Cubicle
I finally have my own cubicle!!
Not a shared one. Not the “car-as-my-office” era I survived during field assignments. A real, actual, mine-only cubicle — and yes, I might’ve been unreasonably excited about it.
So when Halloween season rolled around, I knew exactly what I was going to do: claim my little corner of the workplace realm and turn it into a full-on witch’s lair.
Not a subtle one, either. We’re talking faerie lighting, spellbooks, LED candles, and enough black creepy cloth to make the HR department side-eye me. I even handmade the potion bottles — each one labeled, sealed, and brewed with equal parts glue, glitter, and chaos.
(Full disclosure, I just became an Amazon affiliate recently, so this post contains Amazon affiliate links. You have no idea how excited I am to get to share all my new toys with you AND support this site! That being said, as an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.)

One thing you’ll learn about me is that I tend to go a little crazy on Amazon.
There’s something about decorating a workspace that feels like staking your flag in the ground — a declaration that this is a magic zone. Especially after years of working out of cars, coffee shops, and shared desks, having a spot that reflects my personality feels downright luxurious.
I started with some creepy cloth hanging from magnetic hooks under the cabinet. Threw on some battery-powered purple faerie lights and we were rockin’!
Next, I jazzed up my day-to-day decor. I swapped the cover of my mint green Stanley for a purple wrap — I love me some witchy vibes. I added a few extra decorations to get into the spirit, some LED flickering candles, and threw some tentacles in my plant for a ghoulish touch.

For the apothecary jars, I grabbed an assortment of glass containers with lids from Michaels and labels off of Amazon. After sticking the labels on the corresponding jars, I started filling them with anything I thought would pass off as wacky and weird — white thread became spider webs, glitter blends and baby oil became potions, and body powder became arsenic. Let your imagination be the limit.
And because I love subtlety wrapped in a dramatic flair, I went all in for spirit week, too. Every day had a different Halloween twist — little nods to my inner child who understood witches were just wise women who knew how to make the ordinary extraordinary.

If you like my little touches, you too can grab the bloody pearl necklace, black mock neck, and spider brooches for a fun and professional look this season.
What started as a fun decorating project turned into something deeper — a reminder that you don’t have to wait for a promotion or a perfect space to make something feel yours. A few creative touches, a dash of whimsy, and suddenly even fluorescent office lighting feels… enchanted.
So yes, I might’ve taken my cubicle theme a little too seriously. But after all the years of “making do,” there’s a certain kind of magic in finally making it mine.
Here’s to small spaces, big energy, and bringing a little Halloween magic wherever you work — cauldron optional.
